After I returned to earth from my Mir mission, I sheepishly described
(did I have the right stuff?) the sensations of speed and falling
which I experienced during the early moments of the spacewalk
in a NASA debriefing for my fellow astronauts. To my knowledge,
the sensation of falling rarely occurs during shuttle spacewalks,
probably for two reasons.
