Whether or not there is a simple and quick way of determining the human contrast sensitivity function with useful precision I am not really sure, but I do find it really rather difficult to see why anyone would want to. My general view is that the usefulness of this particular kind of contrast sensitivity measure has yet to be demonstrated. Of course, ... the "contrast sensitivity function" has become rather embedded in the North American psyche, but repeated insistence on its supremacy should not really replace objectivity.
