Robson memories (continued)

So we photographed our oscilloscope screen and made up a panel with several pictures showing different contrasts and different spatial frequencies. It was a bit cumbersome and didn't really show what we wanted to show which was the existence of low spatial frequency fall off in sensitivity.
We thought of making the picture of a grating with swept frequency and contrast. It seemed to us that this would provide a good demonstration of what was meant by spatial frequency and contrast, would demonstrate the CSF and, if we could make sufficiently large prints, could be used to make measurements of the CSF by getting people to draw the boundary between the grating-seen and grating-unseen regions.
